After (Now)I realized today that I have a total of 9 successful houseplants, which is a lot but not a whole lot since the majority of them are pretty small. I have lost only 1 other plant in the last year or so, due to a complete lack of understanding of what it needed. After trying varying levels of water and light it dried up and died anyway, but I figure 9 out of 10 is pretty good.
I get all of these plants from a store down the street. They always give me a tip or two when I get a plant from them, and gave me some potting soil for free when I needed it which was pretty sweet.

i need tips! i want success with houseplants.
So far I'm having luck getting various cacti and plants that I remembered that Mom had. I have a Mother in Law's Tongue, a Jade plant and an aloe plant.
And also learning a little bit about houseplants by reading a book on houseplants at a Barnes and Nobel. I never bought it, I just go look things up there when I need to. which is kind of like stealing, like eating a grape from the supermarket.
